Uffizi Gallery
One of the largest art galleries in the world. Situated in the Uffizi Palace, which is considered Vasari's architectural master piece. It was erected in 1565 to house offices (uffizi) for Duke Cosimo I. The gallery houses paintings of the Florentine school, including works by Giotto, Cimabue, Boticelli, Leonardo, Fra Angelico and Michelangelo. Other paintings by Piero della Francesca, Raphael, Tiran, Carvaggio, Rubens, Rembrandt, Memling and Goya among others.

Accademia Gallery
The art collection displayed Accademia was formed in 1784 while the Academy itself was founded in 1563. The most famous work is Michelangelo's David (1504). The Accademia also contains an important collection of paintings by 15th- and 16th century Florentine artists, such as Fra Bartolomeo, Bronzino and Filipino Lippi.
